Cooler today, fine dry and autumnal. A busy week at the yard. Last weekend we were pleased to open our doors to the public as part of National Racehorse Week and on Wednesday this week we had our Owners Morning at the yard followed by an excellent lunch at Perth Racecourse, the weather was kind and the Team did a fantastic job turning out 50 horses on time in the correct order per our 2022-3 Horses in Training book which you can read here – Owners Day Booklet 2022 – Final
Thursday morning saw some welcome rain and we had a strong contingent from the weighing room in to school 34 horses, only one “UR” and not at an obstacle so all went well!
Babies having a sight of the hurdles; they are Hombre de Guerra (Brian Hughes), Melchoir (Jamie Hamilton), Lucky Soldier (Danny McMeniman, Eloi du Puy (Bruce Lynn), Bluebell Glen (Henry Brooke), Lacila Blue (Conor O’Farrell) and Tangiers (Sean Quinlan).
As per usual on a Friday we let our horses stretch out a little on the cushiontrack all weather gallop, in order – Fortescue Wood/Gaillimh a Stor, Donny Boy/Dubai Days, Hombre de Guerra/Theme Tune, Sanosuke/Lacila Blue, Warriors Story/Niceandeasy, Hierachy/Ginger Mail and Tangiers this was then followed up by a deeper piece of work for the whole string on Saturday.
Altogether another productive and rewarding week and most of the horses are just about ready to run, time therefore to start some detailed raceplanning. The fixture list is frustratingly sparse in October but hopefully we will be busy with runners by the end of the month. A few more photos of the horses from Wednesday…
